Why choose Cuckoo?
eero Pro 6E mesh router
Selected plans include the eero Pro 6E, a high-end mesh router that is a notable step up from standard ISP equipment. This hardware handles high speeds wirelessly with much better stability, especially in homes with multiple high-demand devices.
Dual-network availability
By reselling across both Openreach and CityFibre, Cuckoo reaches a wider geographical footprint than providers tied to a single wholesale network. If your address is covered by both, you might see different speeds or pricing depending on which network handles your connection.
100% full fibre range
Every package sold by Cuckoo is delivered over an entirely fibre optic line right to your door. There are no slower copper or part-fibre packages in the lineup, ensuring more reliable speeds and lower latency.
12-month contract options
While most major broadband providers now default to two-year lock-ins, Cuckoo offers 12-month terms for those who need flexibility. These shorter deals cost a bit more per month but come with flat pricing and no mid-contract rises.
Strong customer service reputation
Cuckoo holds a 4.5/5 Trustpilot rating from over 7,500 reviews and won the MoneySavingExpert award for best customer service in 2021 and 2022. Support is UK-based, making it easier to resolve issues if things go wrong.
Cuckoo launched in February 2020, founded by Alexander Fitzgerald, Tommy Toner, and Daniel McClure with a focus on simplifying the market. In September 2022, the brand was acquired by Giganet and is now operated by Cuckoo Fibre Ltd, registered in Exeter. Rather than building its own physical infrastructure, Cuckoo operates as a reseller. It uses two major wholesale networks, Openreach and CityFibre, to deliver full fibre connections to homes across the UK.
What sets Cuckoo apart from budget rivals is a clear focus on hardware and service quality. Every plan is 100% full fibre, meaning there are no slower copper packages available. Selected tiers include an eero Pro 6E mesh router, a high-specification unit that handles high speeds far better than standard ISP equipment. This approach to quality is reflected in a 4.5/5 Trustpilot score from over 7,500 reviews, and won MoneySavingExpert’s best customer service award in 2021 and 2022
Availability depends entirely on whether either Openreach or CityFibre has rolled out full fibre to your specific street. Because Cuckoo resells across both networks, it reaches a wider footprint than single-network altnets. Availability depends entirely on whether either Openreach or CityFibre has rolled out full fibre to your specific street. Because Cuckoo resells across both networks, it reaches a wider footprint than single-network altnets. If neither network has reached your address yet, you will not be able to sign up, as Cuckoo does not offer older part-fibre fallbacks.
Cuckoo package types
C-150
The C-150 tier delivers 150Mbps, making it the mainstream sweet spot for most UK homes. It easily supports households of three or more people doing high definition streaming, online gaming, and working from home simultaneously without the connection struggling.
C-500
Stepping up to 150Mbps, the C-150 package is about headroom and comfort for busy households of four or more people. It allows multiple users to run 4K streams, download large console updates, and join video calls at the exact same time without anyone experiencing buffering.
C-900
The C-150 tier offers 150Mbps and is designed for specific heavy use cases like daily large file uploads, frequent massive game downloads, and demanding smart home setups. Delivering this much bandwidth wirelessly can be difficult for older devices, making the included eero Pro 6E router genuinely useful for avoiding wireless bottlenecks.
Cuckoo sits firmly in the mid-range for pricing. Entry monthly rates are higher than budget providers, but lower than higher-priced altnets and established quality-focused ISPs. To bridge this gap, most 24-month plans currently feature a half-price introductory discount for the first six months, paired with free setup and installation. For example, the C-150 package at 150Mbps drops down for the first six months before reverting to £27.00 for the rest of the term.
Mid-contract price rises depend on the contract length you choose. On 24-month deals, Cuckoo applies fixed pounds-and-pence increases rather than unpredictable inflation-linked hikes. These are disclosed clearly when you sign up, with the first uplift scheduled for 1 October 2026 when introductory offer ends and a second on 1 April 2028. If you prefer absolute certainty, Cuckoo also offers 12-month contracts. These come with a higher monthly rate, but they feature flat pricing with no mid-contract rises at all.
Cuckoo pros and cons
Pros
- Trustpilot rating of 4.5 is well above average, which suggests Cuckoo is doing the basics right where bigger providers often fall short
- Comes with an eero Pro 6E router on selected plans, which is a premium mesh unit you would normally have to buy separately
- 100% full fibre with no legacy copper packages, so every plan is a proper FTTP connection
- Uses both Openreach and CityFibre, so you may get different pricing or speeds depending on which network covers your address
- 12 month contracts are available if you do not want to commit to a full two years
Cons
- On the 24 month deals, the monthly price does not stay flat and rises over the course of the contract
- An upfront fee may apply depending on the deal, so make sure you check the total cost before signing up
- Monthly rates sit above the cheapest providers, so you are paying a bit more for the brand and the router quality
How Cuckoo compares
Cuckoo vs Zen. Cuckoo starts slightly cheaper at entry level and offers a shorter 24-month minimum term, while Zen requires 18 months. Zen goes much further on top speeds with multi-gig options, offers flat pricing with no scheduled rises, and is part of the Ofcom Automatic Compensation Scheme, which Cuckoo does not participate in.
Cuckoo vs Plusnet. Both providers top out at similar speeds, but Plusnet undercuts Cuckoo at entry level on a 24-month term. Cuckoo appeals with a shorter 12-month option, an entirely full fibre network, and high-spec routers, whereas Plusnet still sells older part-fibre packages and frequently bundles reward cards instead of hardware upgrades.
Cuckoo vs NOW Broadband. NOW Broadband comes in cheaper at the bottom end, but Cuckoo reaches significantly faster top speeds. Cuckoo offers shorter 12-month terms and sets out its 24-month price rises in fixed pounds and pence at sign-up, whereas NOW relies on unspecified mid-contract rises with a penalty-free exit right and still sells older part-fibre connections.
