Why choose Vodafone?

4G backup dongle

The Pro 3 tier includes a 4G dongle that automatically connects to the mobile network if your fixed line drops. This is a rare feature in UK home broadband and keeps you online during local outages.

Multi-network availability

Vodafone resells connections across Openreach, CityFibre, and Community Fibre. This means you have a higher chance of getting a fast connection depending on which infrastructure has reached your street.

Speeds up to 1.8Gbps

Their fastest packages go well beyond a gigabit in supported areas. This provides significant capacity for smart homes and content creators.

Ultra Hub 7 router

Customers on the Pro 3 tier receive a router with Wi-Fi 7 support. This standard is still emerging and helps handle multiple high-demand wireless devices simultaneously.

Automatic compensation

They are a member of the voluntary Ofcom Automatic Compensation Scheme. You automatically receive bill credits for missed appointments or delayed repairs.

Vodafone is a major UK telecoms brand delivering broadband across three different networks. They provide FTTP/FTTC services using the Openreach network, alongside CityFibre and Community Fibre. This multi-network approach gives them broader reach than single-network providers and access to gigabit speeds in the right postcodes. The speed and price you see depend entirely on which of these three networks reaches your address.

They stand out with their Pro 3 tier, which bundles an upgraded router, a Wi-Fi booster, and a 4G backup dongle to keep you online if the fixed line drops. The backup dongle is a rare inclusion in the UK market. They are also a member of the Ofcom Automatic Compensation Scheme and offer free setup across the range. Their Trustpilot score sits at 4.7 out of 5 from over 123,000 reviews.

Because they resell across three different physical infrastructures, a single postcode check might return options from any of these networks. Their top speeds reach 1.8Gbps on supported lines.

Vodafone package types

Fibre 1

This FTTC connection suits households of one or two people for light browsing and single-stream HD video. It serves as the fallback option where full fibre has not yet reached your address.

Full Fibre 80 CityFibre

A sensible entry point for two to three people sharing a connection. It handles HD video and working from home comfortably without slowdowns.

Full Fibre 150 CityFibre

This is the mainstream tier for most households of three or more people. It provides enough capacity for multiple devices streaming and gaming at the same time.

Full Fibre 910 CityFibre

Aimed at households of four or more with heavy simultaneous use. This tier suits homes with multiple gamers downloading large game files alongside heavy 4K streaming.

Pro 3 Full Fibre 1.8GB CityFibre

This Pro 3 bundle delivers 1.8Gbps speeds and suits specific use cases like content creators uploading 4K video assets, smart homes with dozens of connected devices, and home offices running heavy cloud collaboration tools. The 4G backup dongle adds genuine resilience that most fixed lines don’t offer.

Vodafone sits firmly in the mid-range for entry pricing, competing directly with major rivals on the headline rate. However, they apply two scheduled price rises during the 24-month term. Both the dates and exact amounts are disclosed when you sign up. For example, the Full Fibre 150 CityFibre package (150Mbps) currently starts at £24.00 a month. The headline price is not what you pay across the full contract.

Contracts are fixed at 24-month across the live range, with no shorter options available. Setup is free. Unlike several major competitors, Vodafone does not currently offer reward cards or gift cards to new customers on these tiers.

Vodafone pros and cons

Pros

  • Trustpilot rating of 4.7 is among the best in UK broadband, which is rare for a provider of this size
  • Pro 3 packages include an upgraded router, a Wi-Fi booster and a 4G backup dongle, so your connection has a safety net if the line drops
  • Taps into Openreach, CityFibre and Community Fibre, which means availability and top speeds vary by postcode in your favour
  • Speeds reach up to 1.8Gbps on supported networks, putting Vodafone well into multi-gig territory
  • Free setup across the board and part of Ofcom's Automatic Compensation Scheme

Cons

  • Prices rise twice during the contract, so expect the monthly cost to creep up from what you originally agreed
  • The Pro 3 tier adds a fair chunk to the monthly bill, which may be hard to justify unless you have persistent Wi-Fi dead spots
  • Broadband only with no option to bundle phone or add a landline through Vodafone directly

How Vodafone compares

Vodafone vs BT. Vodafone reaches higher top speeds of up to 1.8Gbps compared to BT at 900Mbps, while both lock you into a 24-month minimum term. Entry prices are cheaper with Vodafone, but BT frequently offers reward cards on most tiers whereas Vodafone offers none. Both providers apply scheduled mid-contract rises during the contract term.

Vodafone vs Sky. Sky goes higher at the very top end with speeds up to 5Gbps, and Sky is cheaper at entry level. Sky uses unspecified mid-contract rises with exit rights, whereas Vodafone applies fixed scheduled rises with exact dates and amounts disclosed at sign-up. Sky also regularly bundles gift cards on most tiers.

Vodafone vs TalkTalk. Entry pricing is identical between the two, but Vodafone reaches faster top speeds of 1.8Gbps compared to TalkTalk at 940Mbps. TalkTalk holds price flat for the first part of the contract with one rise scheduled later, while Vodafone applies two scheduled increases during the 24-month term, meaning more rises, sooner.
