The provider stands out by offering a network that is entirely full fibre, meaning there are no slower copper legacy lines on its books. Every package comes with symmetric upload and download speeds, which gives you identical performance in both directions. This is a genuine advantage for home workers uploading large files or taking daily video calls. You also get a Nokia Hyperhub router included as standard, and they’re one of only six panel providers offering one-month rolling contracts alongside standard 12 and 24-month terms.
Finding out if you can get connected is the main hurdle. Hyperoptic runs an independent network distinct from Openreach and CityFibre, and their rollout is strictly building-by-building. They have a strong presence in apartment blocks and new urban developments, but they’re completely absent in many surrounding areas. A postcode check is essential before you start comparing packages, as you can’t assume coverage just because you live in one of their active cities.
This entry-level tier delivers 57Mbps actual speeds and suits households of one or two people. It handles light browsing, social media, and single-stream HD video comfortably. It’s worth noting that even this lowest tier uses a true fibre-optic cable direct to your property.
Providing 158Mbps, this package suits households of three or more people. It offers a comfortable amount of bandwidth for high-quality streaming, multiple devices, and working from home without noticeable slowdowns.
Delivering 527Mbps, this option gives larger households of four or more people plenty of headroom for simultaneous streamers and gamers. The symmetric upload speed is the real selling point here, providing fast cloud backups and smooth video calls for remote workers.
The top tier focuses on specific high-demand uses rather than household size. The symmetric gigabit upload speeds are highly useful for content creators uploading large video files, or homes running network-attached storage backups where older Wi-Fi hardware might otherwise become a bottleneck.
Hyperoptic positions itself firmly in the middle of the market. Entry-level pricing is competitive with major alternative networks, but it sits slightly above providers like Community Fibre and Virgin Media when comparing similar speeds. The Hyperoptic 150Mb Full Fibre Broadband only package (158Mbps) currently starts at £23.99 a month. You’ll also pay an extra cost for flexibility, as their one-month rolling plans are noticeably more expensive each month than tying yourself down for a year or two.
When it comes to mid-contract price rises, your contract length dictates what you pay. Their 24-month plans include scheduled pounds-and-pence uplifts that typically increase your bill every April. If you prefer certainty, their 12-month plans usually fix the price for the entire term. The rolling one-month plans have no scheduled rises at all, though you trade stability for a higher monthly rate. All contract lengths come with free setup, and deals are online-only without the reward cards you often see from older network providers.
Hyperoptic vs Community Fibre. Both alternative networks offer symmetric upload speeds that top out around 900Mbps on standard packages, though Community Fibre extends up to 5Gbps on specific tiers. Community Fibre is cheaper at comparable speeds, but their shortest visible contract is 24 months, whereas Hyperoptic offers one-month rolling options. Community Fibre is strictly London-only, while Hyperoptic covers 64 towns and cities nationally.
Hyperoptic vs Virgin Media. Virgin Media runs a cable network with faster top download speeds of 1.1Gbps, but Hyperoptic offers symmetric uploads that Virgin can’t match. Virgin Media is cheaper at the entry level, though they restrict you to a 24-month contract at a minimum. The symmetric upload speeds from Hyperoptic are far more useful for remote workers, video calls, and content creators.
