Why choose Fibrus?

No mid-contract price rises

Your monthly bill stays exactly the same for the duration of your contract. This is a rare commitment among providers competing at this scale.

Contract buyout scheme

If you are stuck in a contract with another provider, Fibrus will contribute towards your early exit fees. This makes switching much easier if you want to leave your current setup early.

Shorter 18-month contracts

Every package runs on an 18-month minimum term. This gives you more flexibility than the 24-month contracts forced by most major networks.

Independent full fibre network

They build and operate their own infrastructure rather than relying on Openreach. This means you get a direct fibre connection straight to your home.

Total Home WiFi included

The faster packages include a bundled whole-home WiFi system at no extra charge. This helps push fast speeds to every room without paying for expensive add-ons.

Founded in September 2018 and headquartered in Belfast, Fibrus is a regional provider backed by Infracapital. They build and operate their own independent FTTP network rather than reselling services from Openreach or CityFibre. Their focus is on connecting underserved suburban and semi-rural areas, particularly across Northern Ireland, while gradually extending their rollout into parts of Great Britain.

They stand out on customer-friendly contract terms. They offer shorter 18-month contracts instead of the standard 24 months, promise no mid-contract price rises across their entire range, and run a contract buyout scheme to help cover early exit fees if you switch from a previous provider. Customer support is entirely UK-based, with teams located locally in Northern Ireland.

The main limitation is their footprint. Because they build their own infrastructure, they only serve postcodes where their network has physically reached. They do not compete nationally, so availability is strictly tied to their specific regional rollout areas in Northern Ireland and parts of England.

Fibrus package types

Full Fibre 150

This tier delivers 159Mbps and comfortably suits households of three or more people streaming, gaming, and working from home at the same time. There is no sub-150Mbps option available, so lighter users on a strict budget might find this is more speed than they actually need.

Full Fibre 500 – Total Home Wifi

Aimed at busier homes with four or more people, this 518Mbps connection handles multiple 4K streams and large downloads simultaneously. It provides useful headroom, and the included Total Home WiFi ensures your router hardware does not become a bottleneck for wireless devices.

Full Fibre 1000 – Total Home Wifi

This 982Mbps connection is built for specific use cases rather than general household browsing. It is highly effective for remote workers dealing with heavy cloud collaboration and large file uploads, or gamers who want to download large console titles in minutes.

Their pricing sits firmly in the middle of the market. The entry-level Fibrus Full Fibre 150 package (159Mbps) currently starts at £24.99 a month on an 18-month contract. This is highly competitive for the speed you get compared to major Openreach rivals, though Virgin Media often undercuts on headline price for cable equivalents.

A major strength is their pricing policy. They confirm there are no mid-contract price rises across any of their packages. The price you agree at sign-up is locked in for the full 18-month term. All deals run on 18-month agreements, with no 12-month or rolling options available.

You will not find gift cards or cashback deals here. Instead, they offer practical incentives like free setup and a contract buyout scheme to cover exit fees from your old provider. On the faster tiers, they also include their Total Home WiFi setup at no extra cost.

Fibrus pros and cons

Pros

  • No mid-contract price rises on any package, so your monthly cost stays locked in for the full 18 months
  • A contract buyout scheme is available to help cover early exit fees from your current provider when you switch
  • Trustpilot rating of 4.4 is well above average, with its own full fibre network built independently from Openreach
  • Contracts run for 18 months rather than the usual 24, so you get back to a free choice sooner
  • Free setup across the range with Total Home WiFi included on the higher speed tiers

Cons

  • Only available where Fibrus has built its own network, mainly across Northern Ireland and parts of England
  • Just three packages to choose from, so if none of the speed tiers suit you there is no in-between option
  • The entry level package starts at 150Mbps, so there is no cheaper low speed option for lighter users

How Fibrus compares

Fibrus vs BT. The entry-level price is often identical, but Fibrus delivers much faster full fibre speeds compared to BT’s basic fibre-to-the-cabinet tier. BT ties you in for 24 months and applies fixed pounds-and-pence price rises every March, whereas Fibrus keeps your price locked for a shorter 18-month term.

Fibrus vs Sky. Sky offers faster top speeds reaching up to 2.5Gbps and a slightly cheaper entry point, though for a slower connection. Sky’s 24-month contracts come with unspecified mid-contract rises and exit rights, while Fibrus guarantees flat pricing over an 18-month deal.

Fibrus vs Virgin Media. Virgin Media undercuts on entry-level pricing and offers a slightly faster top speed, but ties you to a longer 24-month deal. Because Fibrus uses a dedicated full fibre network, it provides much stronger upload speeds for video calls and cloud work than Virgin’s cable network, which delivers slower upload speeds than full fibre.
