Why choose Airband?
No mid-contract price rises
The price you agree to on day one holds for the full 24-month term. This is a strong benefit, as only around half the providers on the market offer completely flat pricing.
WiFi 6 mesh router included
Every package comes with a mesh router as standard to help push the signal through larger rural properties. Most providers reserve mesh hardware for expensive add-ons or faster speeds.
Free installation
There are no upfront setup costs to get connected. Engineers will fit the necessary equipment for both full fibre and fixed wireless connections for free.
Dual-technology rural network
The provider operates both full fibre and fixed wireless access on its own infrastructure. This gives rural homes a physical alternative when traditional fibre lines cannot reach the property.
UK-based customer support
Customer service is handled entirely from the company headquarters in Droitwich. This is a helpful differentiator if you prefer speaking to local support teams.
Airband is a regional alternative network focused on bringing broadband to rural and semi-rural areas that major providers have historically overlooked. Founded in 2009 by Red and Miranda Peel, the company designs, builds, and operates its own independent infrastructure. Backed by over £200m in investment from abrdn, the network passed 30,000 customers in late 2025. Around 440,000 premises are ready for service across roughly 200 communities. Its core footprint sits in Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Devon, and Somerset, with a recent Openreach partnership extending its reach into off-net areas.
The defining feature of this provider is its dual-technology approach. Rather than acting as a simple Openreach reseller, it runs full fibre directly to properties where possible, and offers fixed wireless access for homes that fibre cannot reach. This makes it a genuine option for rural properties stuck with slow legacy connections. They also maintain flat pricing across their speed range, meaning the jump from entry-level to gigabit speeds costs only a few pounds extra a month.
Coverage is strictly regional rather than national. The network serves specific rural and semi-rural parts of the West Midlands and South West England. If you live outside these core counties, you will not be able to get their service on their own infrastructure, though their Openreach partnership is gradually expanding the areas they can serve.
Airband package types
AirSpeed 40
This 40Mbps fixed wireless package serves as a baseline option for rural properties where full fibre has not yet arrived. It suits one or two people running light browsing, social media, and a single HD stream.
AirSpeed 100
Delivering 100Mbps over fixed wireless, this tier suits two or three people who want comfortable HD streaming and the ability to work from home. Real-world performance on this package will depend on the signal strength from the local mast to your property.
Fibre 150 / AirSpeed 150
This 150Mbps tier provides enough capacity for three or more people streaming and gaming simultaneously. It is delivered via either full fibre or fixed wireless depending entirely on what the network has built to your specific address, meaning your location dictates the technology.
Fibre 600
This 600Mbps option is delivered exclusively over full fibre and suits households of four or more people. It provides the capacity for multiple simultaneous streamers and gamers to run heavy downloads without slowing the rest of the house down.
Fibre 900
The top of the range offers 900Mbps full fibre, aimed at futureproofing and providing ample network headroom. Very few homes genuinely need this much bandwidth. The small price gap makes it a reasonable choice for content creators who need faster upload speeds for video files and cloud backups.
Pricing sits in the budget to mid-range bracket, but the structure is highly unusual. The gap between the slowest and fastest speeds is only a few pounds, making faster tiers much more accessible than they are with major providers. The Airband Fibre 150 package (150Mbps) currently starts at £23.00 a month on a 24-month contract. Every package comes with a 24-month minimum term, with no shorter 12-month or rolling options available.
The most important pricing detail is the mid-contract policy. Airband applies no mid-contract price rises on any package. The price you agree to at sign-up remains exactly the same for the full 24 months. You also get free installation across the board, a WiFi 6 mesh router included as standard, and current deals often feature a £50 gift card for new customers.
Airband pros and cons
Pros
- No mid-contract price rises on any package, so your monthly cost stays fixed for the full 24 months
- Barely any price difference between the lowest and highest speed tiers, which makes upgrading to faster fibre a no-brainer
- Offers both full fibre and fixed wireless, so it can connect homes in rural areas where traditional fibre has not yet reached
- Trustpilot rating of 4.4 is well above average, with a WiFi 6 mesh router and free installation included on every deal
- Runs on its own independently built network focused on connecting communities that the major providers have not prioritised
Cons
- Only available in areas where Airband has built its own network, so coverage is limited to specific rural regions
- Fixed wireless speeds depend on signal strength at your property, so performance can be less consistent than full fibre
- No shorter contract option available, so you are committing to 24 months whichever package you choose
How Airband compares
Airband vs BT. Both reach 900Mbps on their respective full fibre networks, but Airband is cheaper at entry level and runs strictly 24-month contracts. BT applies fixed price rises every March, whereas Airband locks your price for the full term with no mid-contract rises. BT offers near-universal national coverage, while Airband is focused entirely on specific rural regions.
Airband vs Sky. Both providers offer 24-month minimum terms, but Sky delivers faster top speeds while Airband is cheaper at the entry level. Sky contracts include unspecified mid-contract rises with exit rights, while Airband guarantees no mid-contract rises. Sky operates nationally across Openreach and CityFibre, whereas Airband targets rural homes on its own regional network.
Airband vs Three. Three offers mobile broadband via 4G and 5G hubs, while Airband provides fixed-line full fibre and its own dedicated fixed wireless access network. Three is cheaper at the entry level but applies fixed price rises during the contract. For rural homes without fibre, Three’s mobile service and Airband’s fixed wireless are close alternatives, but Airband locks your price for the full 24-month term.
